Underbelly: The Story of Houston Food

Underbelly: The Story of Houston Food

You will not find starters or main courses at the Underbelly, but only ‘family meals' inspired by local culture, to share without moderation.

Sitting around a wooden table at the Underbelly, you will have the feeling of discovering the history of Houston. A native of Oklahoma, chef Chris Shepherd has a real passion for his adopted city. He has been concocting richly flavoured dishes since 2012, described by the chef himself as ‘Creole', which here really means fusion cuisine using local products.

Generally, the Underbelly's menu changes daily. It is developed based on whatever is best that day, products that Chris will select in the nearby farms or in reputable butchers of the city. In his kitchen, he is inspired by the cultural diversity of Houston, especially Korean, Vietnamese and European food. On the menu you may find Korean braised goat dumplings or his famous Vinegar Pie. Modern, convivial dishes, an atmosphere that is both warm and trendy, not forgetting the exceptional wine list, Underbelly really is THE restaurant to try!
